Your window to the universe

Discover its nature. Find it in your sky.

Animated artistic 3D model. Drag to rotate; +/− keys to zoom and 0 to reset. Corona and activity are exaggerated, not measured for this star. exaggerated colours and sizes based on spectral class. Diameters and separation are not to scale; animation is not a calculated orbit. An individual star may belong to a multiple system.

01 · Your place and time

From where you are

Initial location: Madrid. Change it to your location; Your location is used to calculate the sky and is sent to the server when filtering the catalogue. When you open the map, OpenStreetMap receives requests for the area you view.

After choosing on the map or using GPS, check the time zone. City search updates it automatically.

02 · The sky in front of you

Drag to look around; wheel or buttons to zoom. North = 0°, east = 90°. Gold: available candidate; grey: registered; white: reference stars. Select a gold marker or use the cards. Geometric horizon, without buildings, terrain, clouds or light pollution. Bright-star backdrop, not a complete catalogue.

SIMBAD / CDS · ICRS J2000 · Proper motion and precession; approximate orientation.

03 · Through the telescope

The Newton 114/500 is a reference, not a requirement. Higher magnification narrows the field; it does not add light. An isolated star may look almost unchanged. The eyepiece shows light points, without resolved stellar surfaces. J2000 catalogue separation: binary orbital motion is not modelled.
